History
From in or around the year 1972, two attorneys, Messrs. Lawrence Randolph Balderamos and Said Wilbert Musa, S.C. shared offices located at No. 33 Barrack Road in Belize City. Each accumulated their own clientele and each specialized in their own area of practice. Mr. “Ronnie” (as he was affectionately referred to by his peers) specialized primarily in drafting legal documents having served many years as Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court while Mr. Musa excelled in court matters.
This was the beginning of the law firm of Musa & Balderamos, which opened its doors on May 5th, 1978 at a two-storey building situate at No. 91 North Front Street in Belize City, when these two prominent attorneys decided to formalize their partnership and business arrangement. Sadly, on Friday, January 5th, 1979, and only a few months after moving into their recently renovated premises, the building which housed the offices of the said law firm was completely destroyed by fire, and the two attorneys were forced to relocate temporarily to the Cor. Gabourel Lane and Hutson Streets.
It was during this time that Attorney-at-Law, Edwin Lenton Flowers, S.C. joined the ranks and continues to this day to render invaluable services to the law firm’s clients, along with the surviving founding partner, Attorney-at-Law Said Wilbert Musa. Sadly, Mr. Balderamos passed away on May 20th, 1997, after enduring a long and arduous battle with cancer.
Numerous well-known attorneys have passed through the doors of the firm, some as practicing attorneys, including former Attorney General Francis Fonseca, Simeon Sampson, Glenn D. Godfrey and Frederick Doe Lumor, while others doing their internship, such as Justice Troadio Gonzalez, Jose Cardona, and the now deceased Justice George Brown.
Musa & Balderamos has come a long way since opening its doors in 1978 and continues to strive for excellence and perfection in all matters.

He also was appointed a District Commissioner in both the Corozal and Orange Walk Districts in Belize. He also acted as Registrar General and Registrar of the Supreme Court on numerous occasions. In 1971, Ronnie graduated from the College of Law and Lincoln’s Inn in England. In that same year, he was called to the Bar and admitted to practice in England. On the 15th day of September, 1972, he was called to the Bar and admitted to practice in Belize. He was appointed and enrolled as a Notary Public in 1975 and established the Law Firm of Musa & Balderamos with Said Wilbert Musa in May of 1978. Ronnie touched the lives of everyone who came into his path with his kind and gentle ways and with an understanding and unselfish concern for others. He was often admired for his modesty, his willingness to always lend a sympathetic ear to anyone in need of consolation or advice, and his painstaking research. He had a meticulous and cautious approach to certain areas of the law, particularly the law of property and conveyancing and the law of banking, and was often consulted by junior and senior attorneys for his opinion, advice, and guidance. He is surely missed by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting and knowing him. |
