EDWIN LENTON FLOWERS, C.B.E., S.C.
was born on the 5th day of September, 1943. He attended Wesley College in Belize City between 1956 and 1960. Between 1968 and 1972, he attended the Holborn College of Law and obtained his Bachelor of Laws Degree in 1972, becoming a member of the Inns of Court Middle Temple. He was appointed Senior Counsel in 1986.
Between 1972 and 1974, Mr. Flowers served as Crown Counsel in the Office of The Director of Public Prosecutions and served as Chief Magistrate between 1974 and 1977. In 1979, he was appointed Attorney General and Senator and Leader of Government Business.
Between 1982 and 1987, he was a Senior Member of the Belize Advisory Council and between 1989 and 1990, served as President of the Bar Association of Belize. From 1988 to present, he has served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Bar Association of Belize.
Between 1992 and 1997, Mr. Flowers served as Chairman of the Belize Advisory Council and was appointed Solicitor General in 1999, which he held until 2001. He served as President of the Bar Association of Belize between 2003 and 2004 and was again appointed Solicitor General between 2006 and 2008. Between 2003 and 2004, he was a member of the Judicial and Legal Section of the Public Services Commission.
Mr. Flowers has served as a member of other authorities or bodies, including the Licencing Authority, the Appeals Tribunal of the Belize Social Security Board (including as Chairman between 2002 and 2006), the Air Transport Licencing Authority, the Development Finance Corporation (as Deputy Chairman between 2002 and 2006).
In 1992, he was appointed a Commander of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth.
He joined the Law Firm of Musa and Balderamos in 1980.
